CHAMPIONSHIP icon Jon Parkin has opened up on the hilarious moment he accidentally posted a picture of his poo on social media.

The former and Preston forward finished his career with York City but was surprised to receive a P45 from the club via email in 2019.

He decided to share a screenshot of the email with his followers on X, before fans noticed a .

Parkin told the In The Mixer podcast: “I got my P45 from York. I didn’t even realise I was retired until I got my P45.

“I put it on Twitter and I said, ‘it looks like I’m retired’. I’ve put it on and someone’s zoomed in.

“You know those little photos at the bottom? So I must have had a decent batch this morning. I’ve taken a photo of my s***e that morning.

“Then someone’s zoomed in and retweeted it. That ended up in papers and all. I actually retired with a photo of my s***e in one of the papers.”

Parkin’s fellow podcast guests were left in hysterics after his candid admission.

But previously he jokingly tried to deny that the poo picture was from himself after the embarrassing photo initially circulated.

He wrote on X: “Unfortunately I have to confirm that ‘the s***e’ isn’t mine.

“I would love to take full credit for it but unfortunately I got it in a group chat.

“Mine are more like rabbit droppings.”

Parkin started his career with and became a football journeyman after spells with Macclesfield Town, Hull, , Preston, Cardiff, Fleetwood and Forest Green.

He ended up playing 659 times across his career, scoring 221 goals.

Parkin rarely stays out of the headlines and fans have been entertained by his hilarious outbursts.

After retiring, Parkin turned his attentions to cricket, but later revealed he was giving up on the sport because he was “c**p” at it.

Parkin had been playing for local cricket club Dartfield, but after scoring 133 not out in his final game for their second XI against Green Moor in League Division Six.

He told the Barnsley Chronicle : “I’m c**p. I’ve not scored many runs so I’ve thrown my teddy out of the cot and that’s me done.

“It’s been a long time coming scoring some runs and it didn’t make me change my mind.”

And he bizarrely appeared at this year’s AFCON final between and as he watched a farcical end to the game.
