Jon Jones retires from UFC

Jon Jones, who is widely regarded as the greatest MMA fighter, has retired from the UFC.

This was revealed by Dana White in a press conference.

Jones, who was the promotion’s undisputed heavyweight champion, has now seen title passed to Tom Aspinall.

White, speaking in Baku, Azerbaijan onSaturday, claimed Jones called him onFridayto say he would not be fighting again.

Jones himself then posted an official statement on social media.

It read in part: “Today, I’m officially announcing my retirement from the UFC.

“This decision comes after a lot of reflection, and I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the journey I’ve experienced over the years.”;

Jones, who has not entered the Octagon since defeating Stipe Miocic in November, ends his UFC career with a 28-1 record.
