Joey Barton on the Brink of Financial Ruin After Losing Nearly £1 Million in Court Battles

FOOTBALL’S Joey Barton is facing financial ruin after a string of court cases that have cost him around £1million.

Yesterday he was denied bail after being charged with GBH in connection with a fight at a golf club.

Barton has been hit with orders to pay huge sums in damages and legal costs over vile claims against broadcaster and pundit .

Now it has emerged that his image rights firm, Promotions Limited, has racked up debts of £76,273.

Barton was also hammered by after investing in four dodgy film schemes deemed to be tax-avoidance investments — set up by controversial firm Ingenious.

Barton, who once earned £45,000 a week as a player, and pal Andrew Taylor also own an energy management consultancy company called Resolve Energy.

Paperwork shows its directors owe a total of £1.8million in unpaid loans.

A source said: “Barton faces serious trouble and that’s only been made worse by the fact he’s been involved with so many court cases.

“Each one costs thousands of pounds in legal fees and if you lose, it’s even worse.”
