YOUTUBE boxer Jake Paul has been left with a black eye following a sparring session with British heavyweight Lawrence Okolie.

He is clearly intensifying his training as he prepares to face Anthony Joshua , 36, in just over two weeks.

Paul appeared on camera speaking to live streamer Adin Ross on Saturday when he was asked about the noticeable bruise around his right eye.

He stated: “I’m sparring with several world champion heavyweights, and I think that’s what caused this. He’s about 6ft 6in and weighs 270lbs.”

Okolie, 32, is a London-born heavyweight who has held world titles in two different weight classes.

He has competed at cruiserweight, bridgerweight, and is now fighting at heavyweight, where he has been ordered to face a rising British contender in a final title eliminator next year.

Ross then asked Paul how his training was progressing, inquiring: “What do you weigh right now?”

Paul responded that he was not at his desired weight yet, saying: “I’m around 215lbs. [I need to reach] 218 to 220lbs.”

He then surprised his guests by revealing that his opponent Joshua is expected to weigh around 250lbs by the time they step into the ring.

The fight was confirmed just last month after previous negotiations fell through.

Paul has previously fought notable boxers such as Floyd Mayweather and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but this will undoubtedly be his toughest challenge yet.

Joshua was once one of the most formidable names in heavyweight boxing, but a surprising loss to Oleksandr Usyk followed by consecutive defeats left him without a title.

He was most recently stopped in September 2024, making his upcoming fight with Paul his first bout since contending for a world championship title.

There appear to be no training wheels for Paul, as he is training in standard 10oz gloves.

It is safe to say that fans are skeptical about the American’s chances against his larger and more experienced opponent.

One fan commented on the black eye: “If that happened while wearing 18oz gloves, imagine what AJ will do to him.”

Another fan added: “I hope Jake knows something we don’t—like AJ has forgotten how to punch or something.”
