IVE’s Jang Won Young Talks About Her “Lucky Vicky” Mindset, Origin Of Her English Name, And More

IVE’s Jang Won Young joined Harper’s Bazaar Korea for a stunning pictorial and interview!

The magazine recently unveiled its August issue cover featuring Jang Won Young, who continues her role as brand ambassador for the Italian luxury fashion house Miu Miu. In the photo shoot, Jang Won Young perfectly embodies the “Ice Princess”; concept, radiating an elegant, cool allure while showcasing pieces from Miu Miu’s 2025 Fall/Winter collection.

In the interview that followed the shoot, Jang Won Young opened up about the recent trends “Lucky Vicky”; and “Wonyoungism,”; both of which were inspired by her personal philosophy.

“What I’ve realized is that effort always comes back to you in some form—like a boomerang,”; she said. “If you haven’t seen results yet, it just means the time hasn’t come. In those moments, instead of feeling discouraged, it’s better to think, ‘Ah, my efforts must be taking root somewhere right now!’”;

Jang Won Young went on to highlight her favorite line from IVE’s song “Attitude”;: “Even if I stumble, luck is always on my side.”; She added, “That lyric really sums up my life.”;

She also explained the origin of her famous nickname, sharing, “Ever since I was little, my English name has been ‘Vicky,’ which comes from the nickname of the goddess of victory, Victoria. My mom gave me that name, hoping I would always win. It’s amazing how that has now led to ‘Lucky Vicky.’”;

She added, “Just like in the lyrics, ever since kindergarten, I used to always say, ‘The goddess of luck is on my side.’ I truly believe words have power. So, even if I stumble, luck will always be on my side in the end.”;
