‘It’s a shame’ – Shchetinin laments Osimhen’s absence as Russia draw Nigeria

Russia international, Mikhail Shchetinin has lamented that Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen’s absence following both sides’ international friendly match on Friday night.

Recall that Osimhen was not included in the squad against Russia as Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against the hosts at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

However, Shchetinin was not pleased for not having the chance to face the Napoli attacker.

Speaking after the match, Shchetinin described the development as a ‘shame’, adding that it would have been interesting for him to see the 26-year-old.

“To be honest, it is a shame that not all the Nigerian team players came,”; Shchetinin told championat.

“It would’ve been interesting to see Osimhen from Galatasaray.”;

He added, “A good team came to Russia. [Victor] Boniface. It was interesting to see them.”;

Meanwhile, it was learnt that Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle didn’t included Osimhen in the squad to face Russia as the striker is sorting out his future following the expiration of his loan deal with Galatasaray.
