Senator Adams Oshiomhole has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to preserve his legacy by resisting pressure to run in the 2027 presidential election.
Oshiomhole made this statement while responding to questions on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He emphasized that only Jonathan's adversaries would want him to enter the race.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the former president would likely face defeat in 2027 at the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he decided to run.
Oshiomhole remarked: “How can Jonathan be considered a threat? We defeated him before, when the PDP was truly strong. If a man had the PDP at its peak, then it is only his enemies who would encourage him to enter the fray.
“That may not serve him well. I believe he has shown that it is possible to remain relevant and at peace even when out of power.
“If I were to give him advice, I would say, ‘Sir, maintain this status.’ If I were in his position, I would spend the rest of my life seeking relevance, which he has already achieved.”
DAILY POST reports that Jonathan was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost the 2015 presidential election to the late President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
