Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighters on Gajigana town in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorists reportedly launched the assault around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, targeting a Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, duty post.

A military source said the troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat. Blood trails were seen along their withdrawal route, suggesting they suffered casualties.

One CJTF operative, identified as Bulama Ngala, sustained injuries from stray bullets during the encounter. He was taken to the General Hospital in Gajigana and is said to be responding to treatment.

Normalcy has since been restored in the area.
