IPMAN suspends strike over Lagos call-up fee hike

Published on June 17, 2025 at 06:01 PM

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has directed its members to suspend the industrial action initiated in response to the recent increase in electronic truck call-up parking fees in Lagos.

The strike, which disrupted fuel deliveries from the Dangote Refinery and operations at the Lekki Deep Seaport on Monday, was triggered by the Lagos State Government’s decision to raise the parking fee from N2,500 to N12,500.

Implemented through the Electronic Call-up Systems Company, the revised levy drew protests from truck operators and IPMAN members, who expressed concern over the added financial implications.

In a letter dated June 17 and addressed to zonal and depot unit chairmen, IPMAN’s National Secretary, James Tor, stated that the Lagos State Government had agreed to enter discussions with stakeholders, including the association’s National Executive Committee and the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, to work towards a “mutually beneficial”; solution.

“Sequel to the above, you are directed to suspend the strike action and resume normal work to allow time for amiable resolution,”; the letter read.

Tor also encouraged members to remain united and alert, assuring them that the association would continue to engage with government representatives to advocate for a fair resolution.
