MILLIONS of iPhone owners need to have their handsets ready for a major update coming in days.
‘s next big refresh is coming free on Monday – but it could easily be delayed from your handset if you make several simple mistakes.

This next version, , has some extra features and a new look in store.
The revamped design has been called Liquid Glass due to the glassy, translucent icons and menus.
Some of the added features you can expect include .
Apple has also developed a new tool that lets a robot wait on calls and alerts you when the customer support person has picked up.
On top of this, you’ll find a option that uses a bot to vet unknown callers before they get through to you.
iOS 26 will be available to most running the current version, iOS 18.
However, there are three models that unfortunately won’t be able to upgrade.
This is due to their age – though they’ll still work fine with iOS 18 for now.
The three devices currently running iOS 18 that won’t be eligible for iOS 26 are:
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
So if your iPhone is eligble, how can you make sure it’s ready and raring for the next version of iOS?
Firstly, it’s always good practice to make sure you have precious files backed-up.
This is important ordinarily but more so when running new updates.
Next, be sure to have some space for the iOS download.
The download file can be around 3GB in size but you tend to need well over double that at least for the installation to begin.
So, be sure to delete any old apps or files taking up too much space if you want iOS 26.
You’ll also need to have at least 50 per cent charged onto your battery as well for the process to go ahead.
IPHONE AIR: EARLY VERDICT
Apple has managed to produce what is an extremely pocketable mobile with seemingly very few compromises.
The screen is a fairly giant 6.6 inches, making it bigger than the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.
It’s also very lightweight at 165 grams.
By comparison, my iPhone 16 Pro Max is 227 grams. The difference is night and day.
The iPhone Air felt feathery in my hand, even though it’s built from weighty (and tough) titanium.
It’s also nice to hold because of the slim frame.
Apple has crammed most of the core components into the camera bump, leaving the rest of the phone’s body free for battery.
It’s impressive engineering and looks great.
