The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, has urged all Christian schools situated on the outskirts of Kaduna to either shut down or switch to day school operations to protect themselves from the ongoing abduction of students by bandits.
This appeal comes in light of the increasing insecurity and kidnappings of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger States, as well as other regions across the country.
In an interview with DAILY POST in Kaduna, Ma’aji recommended that schools in rural areas should also close temporarily or, alternatively, remain vigilant to prevent attacks by bandits.
He stated, “If necessary, schools on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis should be closed for now to ensure the safety of students until the security situation in the country improves.”
He further called on the government to take essential measures to guarantee the safety of students in all schools, emphasizing the need to prevent incidents similar to those in Kebbi and Niger States from occurring elsewhere in the country.
The state chairman of CAN expressed his sympathy for the people and governments of Kebbi and Niger States following the abductions of students, teachers, and others during the recent surge of bandit attacks.
He prayed for the safe return of all abducted children to their families and encouraged parents to seek divine intervention for the release of all children and others held by kidnappers.
Additionally, he urged governments at all levels to implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of all Nigerians, highlighting that the resurgence of bandit attacks across various regions is both troubling and alarming.
“Nigerians deserve a safe environment to pursue their businesses, improve their standards of living, and realize their full potential,” he asserted.
