A former gubernatorial candidate in Delta State, Fidelis Oditah, has expressed his discontent regarding the departure of Prof Mahmoud Yakubu as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without providing an explanation to Nigerians about the issues that hindered the transmission of election results during the 2023 presidential election.

Oditah made these remarks on Wednesday during an interview segment on Arise Television.

This statement follows just 48 hours after Prof Yakubu stepped down as the INEC chairman and passed the responsibilities to May Agbamuche, who is now the Acting National Chairman of the Commission.

“It is unfortunate that Yakubu was permitted to leave without informing Nigerians about the issues that obstructed the transmission of election results in the 2023 presidential election,” Oditah stated.

“He merely mentioned that there were issues, and to this day, he has departed without clarifying what those issues were. He clearly felt no obligation to be accountable to anyone,” Oditah lamented.
