Man Utd join Rayan Cherki transfer battle but £19m Lyon star ‘has heart set on joining Premier League rivals’

MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in signing Lyon star Rayan Cherki, according to reports.

, 21, will be allowed to leave his hometown club for around £19million this summer.

At that price, Cherki has received plenty of interest from the Premier League.

According to French outlet Le Progres, are the latest club to join the race for the starlet’s signature.

, and are also said to be keen on signing Cherki this summer.

GiveMeSport recently claimed that the attacker is particularly keen on joining Liverpool.

Cherki has previously drawn strong interest from and a deal was thought to be close last summer.

A move to Parc des Princes would have seen Cherki reunite with his former team-mate .

PSG are not thought to be interested in Cherki this time around, however.

Despite being just 21, Cherki has already appeared 185 times for Lyon.


The skilful dribbler has scored 29 goals and laid on 45 assists for his boyhood team.

Cherki played and scored in both legs of Lyon’s quarter-final tie against Man Utd last month.

Lyon were beaten 7-6 on aggregate following an extraordinary late United comeback.

Following Lyon’s 2-0 final day victory over Angers at the weekend, Cherki posted a compilation video to his social media accounts.

Thanking the fans in his caption, Cherki all-but confirmed his summer switch.

Lyon are currently embroiled in financial difficulties.

In March it was reported by French outlet L’Equipe that Lyon could be relegated to Ligue 2, should they not get their finances under control.

High-earner is also set to leave this summer upon the expiry of his contract.
