Published on June 02, 2025 at 07:19 PM

Russia midfielder Matvey Kislyak has insisted that his side is not afraid of the Super Eagles of Nigeria as their top striker Victor Osimhen will not play in the friendly.

Both Nigeria and Russia will face each other in an international friendly on June 6.

Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle excluded Osimhen with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Ademola Lookman from the squad to face Russia in Moscow.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Kislyak expressed confidence that the game will be a good match.

“There are many famous footballers playing for the Nigerian national team. Some won’t come, yes. Osimhen won’t come,”; Kislyak told Championat.

“I think it will be a good match. Nigeria doesn’t cause fear. It is interesting to test one’s strength.”;

The Super Eagles head to the game after winning the 2025 Unity Cup in London.

Chelle’s side defeated Jamaica to win the friendly tournament over the weekend.
