THE futuristic new Qiddiya circuit, with a 70 METRE bend, looks to be progressing after new footage was released.

The video, filmed from an aeroplane, shows one of F1’s most unique corners, The Bend, which rises more than 20 STORIES above the surrounding area.

The structure is now clearly visible from the sky, and gives fans an idea of the track’s unique layout in the Saudi Arabian desert.

Pictures of how the circuit could potentially look have been compared to Mario Kart’s iconic Rainbow Road track.

The Qiddiya Speed Park Track was designed by German engineer, track designer and former racing driver Hermann Tilke.

He was also helped by formerdriver Alexander Wurz, who competed between 1997 and 2007.

Qiddiya lists 21 corners, 80 garages, an elevation change of 108 metres per lap, and a projected top speed above 325 km/h.

The construction contractor, UNIMAC, says the 7.7-km circuit is due to be finished in 2026, with 70,000 seats.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is currently held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit,

previously said about the circuit: “It’s what Saudi do, so full respect to them for coming up with some crazy things.”

Fernando Alonso added on X: “The proposed new circuit at Qiddiya City looks set to be one of the most impressive facilities for motorsports worldwide.”

A Six Flags theme park is set to run parallel to the track and will feature the world’s tallest, longest and fastest rollercoaster.

Computer-generated images of the circuit also show a glass-bottomed swimming pool suspended over the track.

Saudi Motorsport Company chairman Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal told The Race : “The track is going to be ready in ’27, so it’s going to be determined by the other surrounding projects [in terms of] if you’re going to be finished on time or there’s going to be, [because] sometimes in these mega-projects there are, delays.

“We’re not in a rush to move from Jeddah. If everything goes well and we feel comfortable, and Formula 1 feels comfortable going there, we think not before ’27, so we’re thinking about ’28, maybe ’29.

“But next year, we’ll have a better understanding on when exactly we can move there.”

Prince Khalid went on to discuss the possibility of having TWO races in Saudi, as well as the option to rotate courses.

He added: “To have two races or rotate between Qiddiya and Jeddah, it is too early to discuss.

“Our main focus now is to enjoy what’s remaining in Jeddah and look forward to move to the new facility in Qiddiya and take things forward from there when we reach that point. But it’s too early, we have nothing in plan.

“It has been said in the media a couple of years ago about having two races in Saudi Arabia.

“I don’t think with the calendar now it’s something possible and we haven’t actually discussed this idea between us.”
