Dec stated: “They will go head-to-head over a series of trials, winning food for one another.”
A visibly excited Ant interjected: “I have to mention this… it all culminates tomorrow in a live Bushtucker Trial, returning to television after a six-year break.”
Ant turned to Dec and asked: “Didn’t you request this?,” to which Dec replied: “I definitely did not ask for it.”
Ant continued: “Tomorrow’s show features a live trial.”
Dec then dropped another major announcement, stating: “All six pairs, all six rivals will participate in the live trial tomorrow night.”
He teased: “Anything could happen; it could be incredible or it could be disastrous.”
The Sun reported last week that ITV executives were bringing it back for the first time in five years.
The last airing was during the 2020 series, which was filmed in Wales due to restrictions.
The live challenge created one of the show's most memorable moments in 2010, when TV presenter Gillian McKeith “fainted” after being voted by the public to undertake her seventh trial.
She collapsed near hosts Ant and Dec, and former Olympic gold medalist Linford Christie stepped in to replace her.
It is anticipated that the live trial will occur sometime next week.
A show insider shared: “The live trial is making a triumphant comeback this season, as producers understand its popularity among viewers.”
“The stakes are always high during the live trial, and anything can happen – it's must-see TV.”
Yesterday, the show split the celebrities into head-to-head battles, with winners earning a spot in luxury Win City, while losers were sent to dismal Doomsville, receiving nothing but rice and beans for dinner.
However, the pressure proved overwhelming for some celebrities.
Viewers were left recoiling as Alex Scott faced one of the show's most disgusting Trials yet – the Trial, Eye to Eye, was part of the new Rivals twist unveiled last night.
The public voted for Alex to compete against Shona in round five.
Alex and Shona were tasked with squeezing juice from raw fish eyes using only their mouths, spitting the liquid into a shot glass, and then consuming the entire shot.
The other celebrities watched from the stands, struggling to hide their horror as the challenge commenced.
Both campmates found it difficult to fill their shot glasses, as the gelatinous fish-eye fluid dripped slowly inside.
However, Alex managed to fill hers first, grabbed the glass, and downed the shot in one go.
For a brief moment, it seemed she had succeeded.
But as soon as the liquid reached her stomach, Alex lurched sideways, doubled over, and vomited the entire contents into a bucket.
Meanwhile, Tom Read Wilson became emotional last night as the day's pressures weighed heavily on him.
As the group settled into Doomsville, he suddenly broke down, apologizing to his campmates.
“I’m a wreck, sorry… I’m just a wreck today, I can’t stop.”
“I think I’ve opened the floodgates a bit.”
He admitted he was missing home while the others comforted him.
The Celebs Go Dating star further expressed in the Bush Telegraph: “I live alone at home, but the people I see in my life are very supportive.
“Here I feel somewhat lost, deliciously lost, but sometimes it overwhelms you.”
