Now, after eighteen years, it seems their wishes have been granted, as producer Bryan Fuller announced that a third season of Pushing Daisies is officially in development.
In an interview with The Mary Sue about revisiting Pushing Daisies, Bryan stated: “We have a pitch for season three, and the entire cast wants to return. We hope to reunite with them.”
“We just need to find someone willing to produce it.”
Pushing Daisies followed the life of a pastry chef named Ned (Lee Pace) who possessed the ability to bring the dead back to life.
Throughout the episodes, he solves murders alongside his resurrected childhood sweetheart, Charlotte.
Charlotte and Ned grew up as neighbors, but tragically, Charlotte was murdered.
After Ned used his powers to revive her, they resumed their relationship under a terrifying condition.
If they ever touched, she would die forever.
Charlotte assists Ned in solving mysteries while encouraging him to use his powers for good whenever possible.
In the past, Ned’s abilities had led to reckless outcomes, including the accidental death of Charlotte’s father.
Ned didn’t reveal this to her until the show’s eighth episode, which completely shook her world.
The show received an enthusiastic response in terms of awards, garnering an impressive 17 nominations and winning 7 during its run.
Among the wins were Outstanding Directing for a Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, awarded to Anna Friel for her role as Olive Snook.
