Former President Goodluck Jonathan has claimed he was betrayed while seeking re-election in 2015.
Jonathan made the remark in Benin, the Edo State capital, during the 70th birthday celebration of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe.
According to him, Oghiadomhe is one of the few friends he has who can stick out their necks for him.
“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals,” said the former President of Nigeria.
“I have witnessed a lot of betrayal during the 2015 election. You will find it difficult to see somebody who says the same thing in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening.”
During Jonathan’s presidency, Oghiadomhe served as Chief of Staff between 2010 and 2014.
Recently, there has been widespread speculation that the former president may contest the 2027 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. However, he has yet to confirm the reports.
