"Toyin Lawani Speaks Out: 'I Can't Speak or Walk Properly After Surgery' – Calls Out Lagos Hospital for Alleged Complications"

Celebrity fashion designer Toyin Lawani has publicly criticized a Lagos-based hospital, Euracare, over alleged complications that arose following a surgery performed at the facility.

The founder of Tiannah Empire made her concerns known on Sunday through a series of posts on her Instagram account.

Describing her ordeal, Lawani explained that she sought treatment at the private clinic for “spine surgery” but subsequently lost the use of her legs and developed a lung infection after spending nearly N100 million at the hospital.

While expressing her intention to take legal action against the hospital once she recovers, she stated, “Euracare Hospital, your time is up. I told you I wasn’t ready to deal with this yet. Just wait for me; I will be coming for you.”

“You can spend close to 100 million at a hospital, and they will still mismanage your health. They thought I was joking when I said I would sue, but I told them to just wait; when I’m stronger, I will share my story. I am still suffering the consequences from Euracare. If you go there, expect to face unexpected issues.”

“To this day, I still struggle to speak and walk properly. I experienced complications that led to bleeding in my lungs. I had to be taken back into surgery the following day. Before I knew it, I stopped breathing. They had to puncture my lungs, which damaged my vocal cords. After losing the use of both legs when I was sent home, I ended up back in that hospital. I had to reach out to the ENT doctor in the UK, who advised them to perform a third surgery to remove the tracheotomy tube from my lungs to see if I could breathe on my own.”

“After that, I was on the next flight to the UK with my family. Upon arrival, the doctors informed me that I needed yet another surgery. They discovered an infection in my lungs and showed me the large lumps. I have been in and out of the hospital ever since due to this. They don’t care if it’s their mismanagement; you will still have to pay.”

According to DAILY POST, Lawani spoke out following renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s allegations against the same hospital, claiming negligence that led to her son's death on Wednesday.

In response to Chimamanda Adichie’s claims, the Lagos State government has ordered an investigation into the matter.
