Human remains discovered in remote house after 6-year search for missing man Richard Dyson as cops arrest 2 for ‘murder’

HUMAN remains have been discovered during the search for a missing man - and cops have arrested two people in connection to the case.

Cops made the tragic discovery during a gruelling six-year-long search for man Richard Dyson, 58, who was last seen in November 2019.

were searching for Dyson when they made the at a house in, Hoyland, on Monday.

A murder probe is now underway following the - but authorities have not confirmed if it belongs to Dyson.

Two suspects, aged 71 and 72, were re-arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the .

The pair have previously been of the same .

Dyson was last seen six years ago on November 17 at about 11pm.

He was walking along the A6135 Road in Hoyland - before he .

The remains were found at a property on Broadcarr Road in Hoyland on July 14.

Scenes have been put in place on Dike Hill, Sheffield Road and Hoyland Common.

Police said there would be an ongoing presence at the property for the next two weeks or so.

They also said they would be keeping “an open mind around the circumstances of the discovery”.

Cops added that the formal identification of the corpse was yet to take place.

But Dyson’s family have been informed of the latest development, they confirmed.

The two men who were arrested were quizzed by cops.

But they have since been bailed.

Senior Investigating Officer, Andy Knowles, said: “We are keeping an open mind following this discovery, and working around the clock to establish the identity of the person involved and the circumstances surrounding this development.

“Richard Dyson and his family remain at the forefront of our minds as we progress our enquiries, and we know how important it is for them to get answers.

He added: “We remain keen to hear from anyone with any information which could assist us, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

“Please get in touch and tell us what you know.”
