A detailed account of Tuesday’s deadly attack by bandits on Eruku community in Kwara State has emerged.

DAILY POST reports that the incident occurred at about 6:05pm, when the bandits again launched an attack on a popular First C.A.C Church at Oke Ado Area, Eruku town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara South Senatorial District.

According to security reports, “The worshippers in large numbers were said to be holding a special programme when the bloody incident occurred.

“Presently about three people reportedly lost their lives while at least 30 residents including old and children were taken into the bush by the bandits.

“Those who lost their lives included one Asaba and Deremi, while the third victim is yet to be identified by name, and those who suffered various gunshot injuries have been rushed to Egbe General Hospital, in Kogi state for medical attention.”

The incident, according to security sources, followed a series of attacks by the bandits in and around Eruku town, sharing common boundaries with Kogi State, but last Tuesday’s attack took another dimension which threw the entire Eruku residents into serious panic and fear.

Residents have called for an urgent attention from the authorities, even as security agencies are now in the bush for search and rescue of those that are in the bandits’ captivity.

DAILY POST recalls that the state police command through the spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, on Tuesday, confirmed the development in a statement, with a promise to provide details as investigations progress.
