Not only are they , but A-listers such as X and X are huge fans of the style.
Shoe expert Mark Buxton, from Daniel Footwear , told Fabulous: “Loafers have become a trending shoe across a number of high-profile fashion houses in recent years.
“And have become the go-to for mixing style with versatility.
“They are a perfect blend of casual and formal styles and can be found in boardrooms and house parties alike. Crossing a divide that trainers and boots just can’t.
“Outside of their style and versatility, Loafers also have the advantage of being one of the most comfortable shoes out there.”
Not only are comfortable, but they are also fun, and let you showcase your own unique style in a subtle way.
Why not pair the shoe with a bright sock, or one with frills, for a pop of personality on the go?
It can be hard to find a comfortable shoe that looks great with tights in winter, and loafers are a chic solution.
You can also use them to dress up jeans, or add an edgier feel to a floral outfit.
Unsurprisingly a pair of loafers – cream leather with a gold snaffle detail – is one of Marks and Spencer’s top selling shoes.

Loafers have become a classic staple over the years, having shot to fame in 1950s preppy America – although they have been around for over a century.
Tim Little, creative director and chief executive of Grenson, told the Telegraph : “It has stayed popular because it has a simple, timeless look, but also because it is very comfortable to wear once you’ve got the fit right.
“They’re best styled with straight tailored trousers that are short enough to show the socks, or in with smart tailored shorts and no socks. If you wear them with jeans, they look best with a turn-up – and again, they should be short enough to show your socks.”
Five workwear essentials
By Clemmie Fieldsend
Fabulous Fashion Editor shared the five workwear essentials everyone should have.
1. WHITE SHIRT
A good white shirt is so versatile. Great for wearing on their own or layering underneath knits and transforming plain jumpers by adding cuff and collar detail, as well as wearing open over plain tops.
2. WIDE LEG TROUSERS
They’ve become a wardrobe staple over recent years as they are comfortable, flattering and will elevate your workwear. Look out for styles with pleating or darting.
3. PRACTICAL TOTE
for a day at work or on your commute you’ll need all your essentials with you, cram them all into a sleek and stylish tote bag in a neutral colour like black, brown or beige so it can be used with all of your outfits.
4. TAILORED BLAZER
Even if worn with torn jeans a tailored blazer will instantly make you look polished and smart for work. Black will be the most useful and look for silhouettes with structure.
5. SIMPLE LOAFER
Whether you like delicate or chunky, a flat and comfortable shoe is essential for everyday use and can look just as dressy as a heel.
