Four gang members appear to reach into the vehicle through its side door as it waits on Gresham Street in the City of London on Sunday.
The shocking clip seems to show the masked thugs – dressed in matching black coats and jeans – tussling with the passengers.
The van driver does not seem to react to the scuffle as he sits calmly in the front of the black van.
A crowd of horrified revellers can be heard shouting “oh my god” as the gang brazenly target the vehicle in the busy Square Mile area.
One man warns the crowd: “You don’t want to be that way… someone’s getting robbed.”
In response, a woman says: “Oh my God… why are they doing that?”
The bystanders huddle together and move away from the yobs, filming from metres away as the horror unfolds before their eyes.
She adds: “I literally want to shout at them and tell them to stop doing that.”
City of London Police confirmed they are probing the alleged attack, but the force has not yet received reports from any of the victims.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of the video posted on social media of an alleged robbery on Gresham Street.
“We’ve received no reports from any victims and no eyewitnesses have contacted police.
“We will make all efforts to identify any victims and would ask anyone with any information to contact the City of London Police on 101.”
It comes amid a growing wave of brazen crime across the capital, with phones and expensive handbags being pinched from under victims’ noses.
One video, released by City of London Police, shows two “sneaky” thieves while standing right next to pub-goers.
Footage showed the unsuspecting group enjoying a drink and some food together unaware the robbers were lurking nearby.
One of the thieves, Mohammed Kraifa, then stretches out his leg under the table to hook the bag strap.
His accomplice Hecham Bourhar then subtly bends down to grab it as the first yob blocks him from the revellers.
The pair are then filmed calmly strolling out together with the stolen goods.
Kraifa, 34, and Bourhar, 29, have now been jailed for 18 weeks for theft.
City of London confirmed the theft took place at a pub in New Street close to Liverpool Street station.
The force said the bag contained a laptop and other personal items to a value of £2,000.
Sgt James Wood, of the Proactive Acquisitive Team at the City of London Police, hailed the “dedicated” officers tracking down the crooks.
He said: “By using all our resources in tracking down bag thieves, we have already made significant arrests…
“… which have led to a number of successful prosecutions. This is another great result, with two bag thieves behind bars.
“Our dedicated officers are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend individuals who target those who live, work and visit the Square Mile.”
