And shoppers have been racing to Home Bargains to snap up cute ‘alphabet stockings’ in store for each member of the family.
The striped knitted miniature version is priced at just 99p while the full sized version is £4.99, and the classic red velvet stocking with gold lettering will set you back £1.99.
But many parents have been left in a panicked frenzy trying to track down certain letters for their family stockings in time for December 25.
Now, an eagle-eyed shopper has discovered the reason people may be struggling with their hunt.
In a post on the Home Bargains Appreciation Society Facebook group, which boasts 181,000 members, Judith said: “For all of thous who are searching for stocking, sacks and mini stockings this is a list of the letters home bargains have released this year.”
Her picture shows the small print on the packaging which reveals that the letters P, Q U and X have not been included in the alphabet stockings this Christmas.
And while Q, U and X are often considered more unusual initials, shoppers have been left fuming that P has been missed out.
One fumed: “No P is ridiculous.”
“Oh my gosh I’ve been hunting for P”, echoed a second.
A third added: “How bizarre there’s no P.”
A fourth fumed: “Really usefull when one of my children’s names begins with P.”
A shopper called Phoebe chimed in: “Deeply offended.”
Meanwhile, a sixth added: “I’ve bought 10 sacks and the last one I need is a P, gutted I only found this out last night.
“P isn’t even that uncommon for an initial. Now one of us has to have different or we have to return them and change the whole lot for something different.”
As a solution, one crafty mum suggested: “If anyone is after a P i got an R and seam ripped it to look like a P.”
