Barcelona midfielder Pedri has said he was shocked to learn that Lionel Messi had left Barcelona.

Messi was a product of the Catalans’ ranks before exploding onto the scene.

La Pulga went on to become the best player in Barcelona, Spain, and the world.

However, he left Barcelona in 2021 as a free agent after the club could not extend his contract.

Pedri moved from Las Palmas to Barcelona in the summer of 2019 and shared the pitch with Lionel Messi for two seasons.

The Spaniard played 47 games alongside Messi at Barcelona.

He told France Football, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, that he always looked for Messi on the pitch.

“I always passed the ball to Messi. Clearly, he was better than me.

“It was a shock when Leo Messi left. I was playing in the Olympics, and I found it hard to believe.”

Messi left Barcelona for PSG, winning the French league twice in two seasons.

In 2023, he joined Inter Miami from PSG once again as a free agent.
