Is Kemi the Solution to the Tories' Troubles?

CONSERVATIVE leader Kemi Badenoch has been actively breathing new life into the right wing party but has she done enough to fix the Tories?

Badenoch, 46, became leader in 2024 after the party’s defeat in the where Labour won a decisive victory, taking 411 seats in the Commons to the Conservative’s 121.

Badenoch’s party was down but not out and she has been busy building them back up.

She has looked impressive at the dispatch box when grilling the former Labour leader .

Her performances in the Commons have helped turn around the fortunes of the party in the polls.

According to the latest YouGov polling , 30 per cent of Brits now have a favourable opinion of the Tories, the highest level since October 2021, prior to the revelations surrounding .

Unfavourable opinions towards the party are a little more stubborn, with 63 per cent of the public seeing the Tories in a negative light, compared to 58 party in October 2021.

Nonetheless, this is down twelve points on the 75 per cent peak in dislike towards the party on the eve of the 2024 general election.

While things may be looking up for Badenoch, things are also improving for Labour.

The same survey found that a third of Britons (34 per cent) now have a positive opinion of Labour, a rise six points since the end of June and the highest level recorded by YouGov since August 2024, shortly after the party took power.
