A HAPLESS raccoon has been pictured reaching a little paw for help after getting trapped inside a drain.
Police raced to the rescue after sharp-eyed drivers spotted the furry critter’s head poking out of a grate on a highway in Ontario, Canada.
Adorable photos show the racoon’s tiny claws clinging onto the metal cover as his eyes appear filled with desperation.
Everything but the furry animal’s head was stuck inside the drain.
Concerned drivers alerted Ontario – triggering a rescue operation for the racoon – dubbed “Rocky”.
Cops raced to the eastbound Highway 403 to Highway 407 to give the curious critter a helping hand.
An entire lane of traffic was blocked so that the little animal could be rescued.
In a post to , Burlington police joked that the critter had “got in a little of their head”.
Following the adorable rescue, police said Rocky “fled the scene”.
They added that the racoon was “seemingly unharmed”.
The Facebook post announcing the rescue has since recieved more than 1,000 likes.
Raccoons are famed for their unscupulous snacking habits.
