Lewis Hamilton Honors Michael Schumacher with Heartfelt Tribute as Ferrari Unveils Special F1 Race Suits for Italian GP

FERRARI has unveiled special Michael Schumacher-inspired race suits for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc to wear in Monza.

The Italian team’s home race takes place next weekend from 4-6 September.

Ferrari is using the weekend to pay tribute to , who raced with the Maranello outfit for 11-years, winning five world titles.

The one-off race suits retain Ferrari’s iconic red design and feature white stripes down the front, the arms and across the shoulders.

Seven stars have also been added on the upper back to represent the German driver’s seven championship titles.

The stars are in the same style as those Schumacher incorporated into his helmet designs.

Schumacher’s logo also sits on the hip of each race suit.

Ferrari head to Monza after drama erupted in the team at the Dutch Grand Prix last time out, where Hamilton finished fourth and Leclerc in fifth.

On numerous occasions in Zandvoort, Hamilton snapped over the team radio after a strategy hesitation behind Leclerc cost him a podium spot.

After the race, Monegasque driver when he passed him on the track.

41-year-old Hamilton aired his frustration following the race, saying: “I’m here to win and I really believe that this team can win.

“We couldn’t win this race but to win championships you have to pick up every point and the last few races have been difficult with penalties and stuff

“And then, today, I lost several seconds behind Charles which I think ultimately would have made the difference at the end.

“But we will take it off line. My goal is to try and lead this team to the championship and we’ve got some work to do for sure.

“But today was definitely frustrating for me.”

Ferrari currently sits second in the constructors’ championship with 338 points, 87 points behind leader Mercedes.
