A Gypsy mother has shared the real reason why it’s common for them to wrap their furniture in plastic.

Rachel Smith, from the UK, took to social media to provide insight into what it’s like living in a small caravan.

In the video, the mother of two mentioned that she had received numerous inquiries about her caravan and how her family manages to fit inside.

One observation made by viewers was that the caravan she lived in lacked bedrooms, and they were curious about their sleeping arrangements.

She stated: “The first question I’m going to address is where do we sleep?”

Rachel then explained that many of the sofas convert into beds for her and her family.

She often sleeps in the dining area while her daughters rest in the seating area of the caravan.

They simply pull out the board stored in the base of the seats and place the cushions down to create a bed.

To make it even cozier, the mother also lays down plenty of quilts as most of the cushions are covered in plastic wrap.

“Another question was why do I have plastic everywhere?” she continued.

“The reason I have plastic everywhere is that if anything gets damaged in here, I couldn’t physically remove this side and replace it.”

To protect them from dirt, she plastic-wrapped the sofas and tabletops to ensure their longevity.

Lastly, many people inquired about where her children play in the small caravan, and she explained that the kids have free access during the day.

She keeps their toys stored in boxes and allows them to take them out during the daytime but quickly packs them away again at night.

Rachel added: “You need to understand that a trailer caravan is very different from a house.

“So you can’t have everything on display.

“It would be impossible. It would just be cluttered beyond belief.”

The clip has gone viral on her TikTok account @ rachelannsmith57 with over 8.9k views, and many users took to the comments to thank Rachel for sharing a glimpse into her life.
