Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting wounded soldiers and the families of military and police personnel who lost their lives in counter-insurgency operations.

Zulum made the pledge on Monday when he received the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association, DEPOWA, Mrs Lilian Christopher Musa, at the Government House, Maiduguri.

The governor said his administration would continue to partner with the association to provide assistance to injured personnel, widows, and orphans of deceased officers. He also noted the challenges faced by troops in duty stations and stressed the need for opportunities for personnel to reunite with their families.

Zulum commended the military for their sacrifices in restoring stability in the North-East and assured them of continued government support.

Earlier, Mrs Musa briefed the governor on the “Thank You Troops” campaign, an initiative aimed at honouring the sacrifices of frontline soldiers and providing support to their families. She also praised the state government’s assistance to widows, orphans, and other dependents of fallen personnel.
