Umar Sani, the former Special Assistant on Media to ex–Vice President Namadi Sambo, stated that Governor Peter Mbah's defection from Enugu State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not affect the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sani made this remark on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, characterizing Mbah’s decision as going against the current.
The PDP leader also refuted claims of an internal crisis within the PDP, asserting that the party's current difficulties are driven by external factors.
“I can assure you that Mbah's defection to the APC will not disturb the PDP because he is going against the current.
“The PDP is neither shaken nor concerned about these externally induced crises within the party. I refer to them as induced crises because we recognize it as the voice of Jacob and the hand of Esau.
“What is occurring within the party originates from outside, utilizing certain elements within the party to generate confusion and chaos,” he explained.
He noted that while there may be leadership challenges at the national level, the PDP remains solidly established in the states, especially in Enugu, where he emphasized that the party's dominance is still intact.
