The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has urged Nigerians to reignite their spirit of patriotism and faith as vital components for creating a stronger and more united nation.
During a Holy Mass at the Government House Chapel in Makurdi today, he highlighted the importance of citizens embracing nationalism by expressing love for their country and maintaining a positive attitude despite existing challenges.
Governor Alia further warned against actions or statements that could weaken national unity, instead encouraging Nigerians to foster peace, hope, and shared responsibility.
He stated, “Nigeria belongs to all of us. We must continue to pray for our country, believe in its potential, and contribute our part to its progress. National development is a collective endeavor that requires our unity, optimism, and hard work.”
In a statement released on Sunday by his Spokesman, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia offered special prayers for the souls of those who have passed, including members of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for national security, as well as for former leaders and every Nigerian working towards a brighter future.
He prayed for God's wisdom, strength, and divine protection for all citizens.
