- Security Crisis in Benue State
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has sponsored over 30 youths from various regions of the state for a five-year empowerment program in Europe.
The Governor’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Asorta James, revealed this in a Facebook post on Monday.
According to the post, the beneficiaries, who are said to come from underprivileged backgrounds, left Benue for Belarus, Europe, on Sunday.
He stated, “The Benue youths you see below are from extremely poor backgrounds, with no “surnames.” Many of them are from the IDP camps in Benue State.
“They departed yesterday for Belarus, Europe, on a five-year empowerment program fully funded by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.”
The state has been experiencing security crises that have severely impacted its citizens, who are primarily farmers.
These security challenges, allegedly caused by Fulani herdsmen, have displaced millions of residents from their ancestral homes.
