President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that his administration is committed to supporting constitutional reforms designed to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Speaking on Wednesday while declaring open a Public Hearing on the Review of the 1999 Constitution in Abuja, Tinubu said the exercise was crucial for deepening governance.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President described the review process as a “golden opportunity” to entrench good governance, inclusivity and sustainable development.

“The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It is not static, but a living document that must continually respond to the realities, aspirations and challenges of our people,” he said.

Tinubu also commended the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review, chaired by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, for its efforts.

He added that the review was consistent with the objectives of his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President further praised the committee for creating an inclusive platform that brings together citizens, civil society, political parties, professional groups and traditional institutions.
