Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Thursday called for divine retribution against those responsible for insecurity and violence in Nigeria.
In a post on Facebook, Gumi implored God to punish the wrongdoers while protecting the innocent.
He stated: “My prayer today: Ya Allah! Whoever has instigated or is behind this insecurity and bloodshed in Nigeria, whether they are foreign or local, or has any material or other benefit from it, or is pleased with the killings, or has chosen to remain passive, may Your divine power reveal their actions and may Your wrath be upon them, punishing them immediately without causing harm to the innocent. Amin.”
Gumi’s prayer comes at a time when abductions are on the rise across Nigeria.
Last month, armed bandits attacked the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke Isegun in the Eruku area of Kwara State, kidnapping several worshippers.
Approximately 38 of the abducted individuals have since been freed from their captors.
Similarly, last week, 10 people were kidnapped from the Biresawa and Tsundu communities in the Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
These victims have also been rescued by troops from Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
