A YOUNG girl has been found dead after her family allegedly left her in a car – and forgot she was there.

The five-year-old had been reported missing before being discovered inside a vehicle in Texas, according to police.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Garland at around 8:20pm on Tuesday to find the youngster in a state of medical emergency.

She was rushed to a local hospital – but could not be saved.

Cops have discovered that the girl and her sibling had been picked up from school by a family member – and then abandoned in the car.

Other family members began searching for her and reported her missing to police.

Then they discovered that she had been left in the car – and immediately called 911 while trying to perform CPR.

Police have launched an investigation into the child’s death but no charges have yet been filed.

Counselling support will be offered to the family, they added.

Garland in Texas – where the girl was found – is currently under an extreme heat weather warning.
