A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Farouk Aliyu, has asserted that no reasonable group of Muslims would choose to attack and kill Christians.

Aliyu made this remark on Monday during an interview on ‘The Morning Show,’ a program on Arise Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.

He noted that there is evidence indicating that Muslims have also been victims of violence from suspected bandits, emphasizing that those responsible for these acts are criminals who target innocent individuals.

“When you consider the definition of genocide in this country, there is no intentional effort by any Muslim militia to specifically target and kill Christians.

“There is also substantial evidence of Muslims being kidnapped and murdered. For instance, a well-known cleric in Kano was also killed by suspected Muslim bandits or extremists, among others.

“I do not perceive genocide as a situation where a group, perhaps the majority of Muslims in this country, is trying to specifically target Christians to suppress them. That is simply not accurate. However, are there killings? Yes, I acknowledge that there are,” he stated.
