AS GEMMA Arterton steps into a brand new role of a determined MI6 agent for tense new ITV drama Secret Service this week, it’s the latest in a string of impressive screen performances.
And across her two decades in the industry, the actress, 40, has had her fair share of steamy on-screen scenes,

In fact, Gemma’s breakout role was as a covetedin which she portrays seductive Strawberry Fields.
However, there’s been plenty more roles across the small and big screen that have seen the Kent-born star take things up a notch.
Her latest role – which begins on ITV on Monday 28 April – appears to be strictly business as she takes on M16 officer Kate Henderson.
But here, we take a look back at Gemma’s raciest scenes in a blast from the past.
Quantum of Solace
Gemma’s breakout role was in 2008 James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace, which came shortly after her film debut in hit teen flick St. Trinians.
The actress portrayed seductive character Strawberry Fields, who caught the eye of the 007 agent, played by Daniel Craig.
Following a racy fling with Bond, the character is murdered in her hotel room, with Gemma seen completely nude as she’s covered in oil.
While Gemma impressed fans with her portrayal of Strawberry, she has since said that, in real life,
Gemma admitted in 2020: “At the beginning of my career, I was poor as a church mouse and I was happy just to be able to work and earn a living.
“I still get criticism for accepting Quantum Of Solace, but I was 21, I had a student loan, and you, know, it was a Bond film.
“But as I got older I realised there was so much wrong with Bond women. Strawberry should have just said no, really, and worn flat shoes.”

100 Streets
In 2016, in crime drama movie 100 Streets.
The pair play a married couple in the flick, with their characters struggling with their strained relationship.
However, one scene sees them intertwined in a very steamy romp.
In the scene, Idris is completely nude on top of a lingerie-clad Gemma as they get hot and heavy in bed.
At the time, Idris when it came to X-rated scenes.
He said: “Love scenes though are definitely challenging, Gemma is a pro and [director] Jim O’Hanlon gave us a skeleton set, so it just made it a lot easier to do. But it’s always difficult to do.”

Orpheline
2017 saw Gemma put her fluency in French to work as she starred in French thriller Orpheline, translated to Orphan in English.
With French often dubbed the sexiest language there is, Gemma’s role matched the allure of her script
Gemma portrays the character of Tara in the film, starring alongside the likes of Adele Exarchpoulous – who played Sandra.
Sandra is a woman that ex-convict Tara tries to tempt with a love affair in exchange for a role in her latest money-making scheme.
The scenes see Gemma strip completely naked to seduce her co-star, with things getting hot and heavy.

Vita & Virginia
Period film Vita & Virginia shows Gemma in a more romantic setting as her love affair with Elizabeth Debicki’s character is depicted.
Set in 1920s London, about the affair of socialite Vita Sackville-West and novelist Virginia Woolf.
The same-sex pair are seen in several intimate scenes, including one which sees the two women lying fully naked together after a night of passion.

She said: “We were snogging and it was going on for ages. But we were having a lovely time.
“We were happy when we were making the film. We were happy that we were going to tell a story about women in a really empowering way. We had a really nice time making it.”

Black Narcissus
2020 BBC drama Black Narcissus’ synopsis of young nuns attempting to establish a mission at a remote clifftop palace may not scream X-rated content, but Gemma’s character certainly amped up the ante.
The actress portrays Sister Clodagh in the drama, a convent leader whose romp days are seemingly over.
However, fans were shocked to see the character
After her order moves to a spooky school up a mountain in Nepal, it unleashes some of the nuns’ pent-up sexual desires.
Sister Clodagh led from the front when kicked off on Sunday — having X-rated flashbacks to a passionate fling before devoting herself to God.
She is later seen whipping herself to get rid of the sexual desires.

The Escape
The Escape, a 2017 drama, played by Dominic Cooper.
Whilst the film isn’t known for being erotic, it does see Gemma and Dominic get steamy in the bedroom in several sex scenes.
Talking about the project, Gemma previously said she can struggle with the sex scene side of things.
She told Radio Times: “The thing I hate about sex scenes is when they’re pornographic – wide shots with bright lights and naked bodies.
“But this was all about the faces and it didn’t really matter what we were doing.”
She added that Dominic made things easier: “Dominic and I are very close. He’s like my brother.
“I felt very safe with him. I didn’t feel at all exploited, even though it’s awful to go through and I find it really hard to watch those parts.
“Luckily, because Dominic and I are friends, after doing these prolonged scenes where he is basically raping me, we could switch off afterwards and try to have a laugh.
“That’s the way we dealt with that intensity. I’m like that anyway. I don’t like to dwell.”
