Ganduje’s resignation linked to Kwankwaso’s move to join APC

Published on June 28, 2025 at 05:28 AM

The decision of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje to resign from his position has been attributed to alleged move by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso to join the ruling party.

DAILY POST reports that to the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola in Abuja.

Although reports indicated that the former Governor tendered his resignation on the ground of ill health, more details have begun to emerge.

A source privy to the development told DAILY POST on Friday night that Ganduje’s move was sequel to Kwankwaso’s plan to decamp from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP to the ruling APC.

According to the source, Kwankwaso is expected to join APC “any moment from now, except he changes his mind again but as of today, the arrangement has been made for that to happen”;.

“It looks like they are sworn enemies, the defection of Kwankwaso is very important to the APC, especially as 2027 is concerned, but Ganduje has vowed that he won’t welcome him into the party so he has to step aside”;, the source added.

DAILY POST reports that there has been speculation that President Bola Tinubu may dump Kashim Shettima and pick Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 presidential elections.

According to some APC stakeholders backing the purported move by Tinubu, Kwankwaso has more electoral values than the incumbent vice president.
