A Professor of Public Law at Rivers State University, Ritchard Wokocha, has characterized the defection of state governor Siminalayi Fubara from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a personal matter.

In an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily,’ a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST on Wednesday, Prof. Wokocha mentioned that Fubara's remarks regarding his defection seemed very personal.

He noted that the governor was speaking on behalf of himself and his supporters.

“The language suggests personal choices, and it's important to remember that we are discussing politics, where individuals make their own decisions and should respect others' choices,” he stated.

“Additionally, consider that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, remains in the PDP, making it somewhat inappropriate for him to involve the minister who has not announced a move from PDP to APC.”

“Therefore, I believe he expressed his thoughts on behalf of himself and his supporters in a similar fashion. The assembly members who recently defected also represented their own views. It's politics, and individual decisions deserve respect,” he explained.

“In my opinion, he carefully chose his words to reflect his personal decision, along with that of his followers,” the professor concluded.
