A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Emeka Bekee, has stated that Governor Siminalyi Fubara will undoubtedly seek a second term as governor under the APC banner.

Bekee shared this information on Wednesday while responding to questions during Arise Television’s Morning Show.

This announcement comes amid ongoing power struggles between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Fubara.

Nevertheless, the APC leader suggested that all governors who recently switched to the party might receive automatic tickets for their second terms.

He remarked, “Well, I am not aware of the negotiations taking place at the top. I can clearly say that APC is a political party I have been part of since its inception.”

“Currently, the APC employs various methods for conducting elections, such as consensus and voice votes. Fubara will need to secure a nomination to run for election as the APC candidate in 2027. He will not be granted an automatic ticket.”

“We may all be surprised that the governors who have joined the party will receive automatic tickets. Fubara stands to benefit from this. No one can prevent that. However, if they decide to hold a fair primary, and he wins, he will become the party's candidate for 2027.”

“We believe that Rivers State must progress. We should not find ourselves in this crisis. It is essential for Rivers to move forward. If the agreement between the central leadership and the governors is that they will receive a second term, then Fubara will have his second term. No one can deny him that.”
