An advocate for restructuring, Dr Akin Fapohunda, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, believes he is the owner of Rivers State.

Fapohunda made this statement on Sunday while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

He was reacting to the political tension in Rivers State, where the House of Assembly initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Fapohunda said, β€œThe real issue in Rivers State is that Nyesom Wike believes he owns the state and is under the control of the federal government.

β€œHe thinks he can do anything and get away with it. However, going by history, federal power did not succeed in the western region; it is very unlikely that Wike will succeed either.

β€œGovernor Fubara is the leader of the party in Rivers. Wike and his group are making threats in an attempt to extract promises that will likely amount to nothing.”
