The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi State Command, has warned tricycle operators to avoid overloading and other unsafe practices on the roads.
This warning was delivered on Monday by the new Sector Commander, Rukayya Zakaria, during an event in Birnin Kebbi that celebrated the 2025 Global Customer Service Week under the theme, “Mission Possible.”
Zakaria expressed her concerns regarding the rising incidents of overloading and mixed loading among tricycle operators in the state.
“I have noticed that many tricycle drivers carry excessive passengers and even place goods on top of their vehicles. I recently observed one carrying nearly 10 people,” she remarked.
She urged the operators to prioritize safety and comply with traffic regulations, emphasizing that the FRSC’s enforcement measures are designed to protect lives and reduce road accidents.
“What we are doing is not just for ourselves but for the safety of all road users. If they cooperate with us, we can significantly minimize accidents,” Zakaria stated.
During the event, the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Garba Dan-Malam, committed to the union’s ongoing collaboration with the FRSC to promote safety and ensure adherence to traffic regulations throughout the state.
