FREDDIE FLINTOFF has landed himself a major new role in cricket.
The legendary former , 48, is currently the England Lions’ head coach, having taken up the role in 2024.

The Lions are the equivalent to England’s second team, and tour against similar back-up sides from other countries.
But after two years in the role, Flintoff has found a new opportunity abroad, and will leave the team’s tour of South Africa early to take up the offer.
He is set to become the head coach of Sydney Thunder in Australia‘s Big Bash League.
The club referred to ‘s signature as their ‘most significant off-field acquisition in club history,’
Flintoff said of his arrival: “I can’t wait to get over there and get started.
“I’m looking at this with a lot of optimism. You look at the franchise, you look at the players, you look at the support, and I think there’s something really big to build on.
“I’m excited to come over, get involved and coach this team. I’m here to do the best job I possibly can for the team and everybody that comes out and supports us.”
Flintoff is no stranger to the T20 competition, having signed for the Brisbane Heat for the 2014-15 season, his last in professional .

The fast-paced 20-over format – and a season played over the course of a little over a month – brings fans a high-adrenaline form of the game.
The Thunder, however, have struggled in the competition of late.
They finished dead last of the regular season standings in the most recent season, which wrapped up in January.
But they will hope Flintoff’s tactical acumen and name recognition could help them turn their fortunes around when the tournament rolls around in a few months’ time.
