FRANK LAMPARD struggled to contain his emotion after securing promotion to the Premier League with Coventry.

The Chelsea legend booked his place in the top flight for next season after taking a 1-1 draw from Blackburn at Ewood Park.

A leaping header from Bobby Thomas drew the match level late on to send the travelling fans into a fit of excitement and emotion.

And they weren’t the only ones feeling it, with Lampard struggling to fight back tears in his post-match interview.

He described the feeling of watching the equaliser fly in, saying: “Incredible moment. Because of how the game had gone, you were worried.

“This is what it’s about, coming here and getting a point at this stage of the season is not easy, and the stresses and strains and the worries and everything…

“We knew we were very nearly there, but to get it over the line like this for this club after 25 years, wow.

“To get automatic promotion as a non-parachute team with three games to go, it makes me feel emotional.”
