FRANCIS NGANNOU is preparing to discuss his next fight after calling out Deontay Wilder.
Ngannou made his return to the cage in October 2024, competing in a one-round match in Saudi Arabia.
This followed a two-year hiatus from the cage, during which Ngannou transitioned to boxing.
He was knocked down in his October 2023 debut but lost a controversial decision, only to be knocked out five months later.
Ngannou was signed to the PFL, which approved his transition to boxing after his departure from the UFC.
After his return against Ferreira, new PFL CEO John Martin is planning discussions with the Cameroonian this week in Dubai.
Martin stated: “Francis is here in Dubai, and I’m going to meet with him to talk about what’s next for him and what would be best for him.”
Ngannou, 38, has been linked with another significant fight against former heavyweight boxing champion Wilder, 39.
Martin, who previously worked for media giant Time Warner, is eager to explore the possibility of the PFL co-promoting the fight.
He mentioned, “Possibly, I mean, I don’t know enough about the history of the PFL's relationship and how they allowed him to pursue boxing.”
“So I’d need to get a bit more informed about that. It would be an incredibly exciting fight.”
“I believe that would be a match fans would truly want to see.”
Wilder was close to signing with the PFL amid discussions for a unique mixed-rules bout in the MMA cage.
However, he signed with Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshkih, resulting in losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, which diminished his chances of facing Joshua.
Wilder has since returned and is ready for a more challenging matchup in his next fight.
Meanwhile, Ngannou is on the lookout for his next opponent in MMA, with Martin hinting at fighters already signed with the PFL.
He remarked, “We have some excellent fighters in the PFL, including Vadim Nemkov, who is fighting in December against Ferreira.”
“They're all exceptional athletes. I don’t believe we need to source fighters from outside to compete against Francis. We just need to sit down and figure it out.”
“Match-making involves discussions to understand what everyone wants to do and seeing if it can work.”
