FORMER Premier League midfielder Jack Colback has announced his retirement from football — just weeks after joining an eighth-tier side.
The 36-year-old has called time on his career less than a month after signing for non-league outfit Anstey Nomads.

Colback had joined the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands club earlier this year after leaving in the summer.
But his stint at the club proved short-lived.
The experienced midfielder made just one appearance during a 1-1 draw with Belper Town on February 14.
Colback confirmed his decision in an emotional message to fans, reflecting on a career that spanned nearly two decades.
He said: “Today, I’m announcing my retirement from professional .
“I feel privileged to have the honour of playing nearly 500 matches at the top level, representing some of the biggest clubs in the country in , , , and Queens Park Rangers.
“From pulling on the shirt for the first time as a young lad to stepping out in front of packed stadiums in the Premier League, it’s been a journey I’ll always be grateful for.
“There have been highs, lows, promotions, tough defeats, and moments I’ll never forget.

The midfielder began his professional career at Sunderland, coming through the club’s academy.
He went on to make 135 appearances for the Black Cats, including being part of the team that reached the 2014 final.
Colback later made a controversial switch to fierce rivals Newcastle United, joining the Magpies on a free transfer.
He played more than 100 games and was part of the squad that won the under in 2017.
Loan spells and permanent moves later took him to Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town and QPR as his career entered its later stages.
