Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the fire at 9:10 PM, with units from Camels Head and Greenbank fire stations responding, as stated in a report to Plymouth Plus .
The crews found the fire contained within two portable toilets and utilized a fire hose to extinguish the flames.
The toilets, situated outside along a wall by the stadium, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
The fire service suspects that the blaze was intentionally set, prompting an investigation by Devon and Cornwall.
Argyle also acknowledged the incident in a social media statement, thanking the public for their prompt notifications to emergency services.
The statement read: “We can confirm that a small fire occurred outside Home Park this evening.
“The situation is now under control, and there has been no damage to the stadium's interior.
“We appreciate the public for their calls that alerted emergency services to the incident.”
This incident follows closely after five courageous fire crews battled a significant fire at St James Park, the home stadium of Argyle’s Devon rivals, Exeter City.
Disturbing footage captured five fire crews combating the intense blaze, which ignited around 10 PM on Wednesday, with thick black smoke rising into the air.
Firefighters were observed using hose reels to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby stands.
The fire reportedly started when flames from an electrical consumer unit in the stadium spread to an adjacent Portacabin and outdoor storage area, according to the Fire and Rescue service.
Smoke and flames engulfed the area at the corner of the ground between the away end and the Adam Stansfield stand at the St James Road and Well Street end.
The service confirmed that approximately 60 percent of a Portacabin was damaged by the fire, along with other electrical services.
Fire crews employed breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to control the fire's escalation.
The blaze was extinguished shortly before midnight, and ventilation fans were deployed to clear out the thick smoke, as stated by the fire service.
Exeter City FC issued a statement: “Exeter City Football Club can confirm that a small area of the stadium sustained fire damage last night.
“The fire is believed to have originated in the St James Road and Well Street corner of the stadium, causing damage to the temporary building that houses the stadium’s control room.
“The alarm was raised just after 10 PM, and over five fire crews responded, bringing the flames under control within two hours.
“We will assess the damage today and provide updates when available.
“Thank you to the members of the public who reported the incident and for the swift response of the fire crews that controlled the fire, preventing further damage.”
