Manchestee City midfielder, Bernardo Silva has blamed himself and his teammates for their defeat to Al Hilal in the knockout stage of the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday morning.

Silva said the defeat was due to the fact that they allowed the Saudi Arabian side to run way too many times.

Al-Hilal shocked the football world on Tuesday night when they produced the biggest shock at the 2025 Club World Cup.

The Saudi Pro League side eliminated Manchester City to progress into the quarter-finals of the competition.

Al-Hilal scored twice through Marcos Leonardo and Malcom to take the lead against the English team.

Erling Halaand made it 2-2 in the 55th minute.

Four minutes into extra time, Kalidou Koulibaly headed in Ruben Neves’ corner-kick, but Phil Foden equalized again for City.

Leonardo then scored his second of the game in the 112th minute and it proved to be the winner.

Speaking about the game, as quoted by Sportskeeda, Silva against the specification that City wanted to leave the competition to have some rest before the pre-season.

“No-one wanted to lose. We are very used to not having holidays, unfortunately, we had a lot of ambition for this Club World Cup and we wanted to win it.
