Emmanuel Fernandez is relishing the opportunity to shine on the international stage with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.
The Rangers defender has opted to represent the three-time African champions despite also being eligible to play for England.
Fernandez made his Super Eagles’ bow in the 2-1 international friendly win over the Team Melli of Iran in Antalya, Turkey last week Friday.
The 24-year-old started the game on the bench, and replaced Semi Ajayi after the break.
The former Peterborough United player is excited with the chance to feature in the star-studded Super Eagles team.
“I watched the last AFCON and I can say the Nigeria team is very good and star-studded. I love the feeling here. I was formerly a midfield player who was converted into a defender,” Fernandez told thenff.com.
He will be looking to make his second appearance for the Super Eagles against Jordan on Tuesday.
